Been slow on the buying tip but came across deals I just couldn't pass on. First pair of Vans ever for $12, Fourth pair of Dragons but been hawking these for a while $45, Converse by John Varvatos $27 a steal!

New Year's Eve Pick

Decided to wear a suit for for New Year's Eve and these for the comfort for the 7 hr DJ gig. John Varvatos for Converse Chuck Taylor brogues. Blended Kanye's "Power" over Auld Lang Syne. After long search for 'the song of the year' I chose "Power" with it's opening chanting chorus and Kanye's lyrics it brought the house down!

James Dean & Jack Purcell

Got my first pair of these in the mid-nineties when they were very hard to find. This one mom and pop sneaker store on Bleecker had them and I got blue canvas ones. That store closed (check Ricky Powell's edition of Frank 151 for a photo of that store) and I wore those out years ago. When Converse finally starting producing more in more styles I acquired a pair of black leather slip-on loafers (had to settle for a size too small) and suede camo slip-ons.
