Air Jordan

Some peeps are getting crazy over acquiring the Air Jordan III's (white version) being released this weekend. The blacks where the first pair of Jordans I ever got and only for a long time because hey, they were just too expensive. Then when the Nike Outlet opened in Woodbury, I got 2 of the Jordan Team J in '00 and the Jordan XVII in '02. I wore one of the Team J's to death but still got a pristine pair. They always seemed like Prada shoes but those clasps were ridiculously hard to fasten and harder to open. Don't really love the Jordan XVII's but was taken by the packaging and the deal at the outlet.

Mr. Fingers "Can U Feel It" Martin Luther King Mix

Not sure when/where I first heard this but in late '80's or early '90's, lord help me if I can remember, Raven O used to have this on a mixtape playing at Florent where we'd go eat after work or going out. Always gives me goosebumps.

CHICO MANN "YA YO SE"

Rane X NIke AF1 '07

This little package was released in limited quantities to DJ's worldwide during the 25th anniversary of the AF1's. Heard about it but never seen, as I am prepping my serato for a gig tomorrow I was reminiscing about how I was still using vinyl in '07 and now my lazy ass loves serato...

Latest Acquisition: Fila Allscape

Besides Adidas, Puma, Nike, and a coupla Converse (which is now owned by Nike) I have no other brands represented except for an ugly pair of Filas I got for $15 years ago. So when I came across these I decided to take a chance. Think I woulda loved these in the 90's not so sure now gotta marinate on this...

First Art Acquisition

This is a horrible photo but best I could do for now. Collab of a '85 pic from the Ricky Powell archives of the Man, Bernard King at MSG worked over by graf legend Chino. Was part of Ricky's Art Funk Explosion with Frank 151 at Sacred Gallery.

Shaft in Africa (1973) Soundtrack El Jardia by Johnny Pate

Big tune here if you like your hip-hop samples as much as the ladies love Shaft, John Shaft that is...

Latest Acquisition: Adidas Superstar II

Ordered from a site called Shoebacca.com, I know it sounds bizarre but they have free shipping and these for $40.99. White/Lime Green. Swapped the white laces for these light grey ones, gettin' ready for spring while it's a blizzard outside.

Going too far?

Painting mannequins is one thing, wearing the bottom half upside down on your head is one thing (this guy is always posted up on Prince st off of B'way), but splattering paint on a vinyl record is not art!

Rockin' Steady by Walt 'Clyde' Frazier

Was no more than 10 minutes late but Walt had left the building... but scored this signed copy anyway at the Borders next to MSG. Was fluctuating on wether to run home and grab a pair of Puma Clydes for him to sign and well 'you snooze, you lose".

The Clyde Book by Sneaker Freaker

Only 90 produced and were promo only. My only chance to get one was from Bobbito last monday at his party where he was gonna award one to a guy and girl with the best kicks on the dancefloor. Unfortunately I didn't make it uptown and couldn't decide which I'd choose anyway.

I will not be getting these...

The real Frankenstein of Kicks, Nike Air Max Posite Bakin Boot. Allah be damned (peep my previous Air bakin post) these are crazy and I'm sure gonna be a hit with the outdoors types up in the Pacific Northwest...of the ghetto that is.

Benny Goodman "When Buddha Smiles"

Favorite sample find of the year. Searched long for this one. known only to 90's alt-hip-hop fans probably. Gotta love that title though!

K-OS (ft. Saukrates) - On The Run [Official Music Video]

This def didn't come out in '10 but I didn't find it til 5/3/10 according to my itunes so this is my favorite find of the year even if it samples a Phantom Planet song that was used on the OC soundtrack...

"How I Got Over" by The Roots

It says copyright 2009 but the album didn't come out til '10 and I didn't get it til 1/28/10 so as far as I'm concerned this is the song of the year!

The Wayne Has Come (Lil Wayne vs Pretty Lights)

My favorite mash-up of the year jusslissen...

"No Hands" Dave Nada remix

This nearly caused the floor to cave in New Years Eve.

Sneaktips

Over Christmas brought my little nephew into Toy Tokyo on 2nd ave and among all action figures etc saw these curios: Nike AF1 Supreme "Kaws" looking like some Frankenstein kicks. Next to the doll heads are doll-size kicks and even Crocs when your action figure needs some leisurely style. Bottom pic is other random stuff I saw as I exited asap these spots creep me out. At first it's like 'oh that's cool kinda funny' then you start imagining who's playing with these in their mom's basement...

New Year's Eve Pick

Decided to wear a suit for for New Year's Eve and these for the comfort for the 7 hr DJ gig. John Varvatos for Converse Chuck Taylor brogues. Blended Kanye's "Power" over Auld Lang Syne. After long search for 'the song of the year' I chose "Power" with it's opening chanting chorus and Kanye's lyrics it brought the house down!
