I was lucky to "inherent" this record way back when I first started collecting. I was hooked on the 13 minute version of "The Bottle" but of all the jams on this record, the title track is in steady rotation whenever I play out. I'm gonna miss passing Gil on the street and giving him a nod of respect as he sauntered by with knowing near imperceptible smile. Was also lucky to see him at Central Park Summerstage last summer. He had a voice that resonated in your heart and your soul.

Manfrotto Imagine More, DJ Kamala, Louie Vega
Tagged along with Ricky Powell to the Manfrotto Imagine More event wednesday before heading to work. Surprised to hear "pleasure of love" by the Tom Tom Club and even more surprised to see this guy playing all vinyl getting to be rare these days. Over at 5ninth DJ Kamala dropped some old-school disco and house highlighted by "try it out" by Gino Soccio. Popped in to Cielo where Louie Vega had crowd going with "another star" by Stevie Wonder but inexplicably cut it before percussion breakdown...190 Bowery mystery somewhat revealed...

Typical Tuesday night in NYC
Got so much love for Giant Step, still bringing it after all these years. Also love the fact the parties they throw have great DJ's and musicians at great venues and are free! I got there a bit late and missed Rich Medina's set, surrounded by a mob under the discoball was a small group of afro-latin musicians groovin' but with no mic's so couldn't hear much and it was like a sauna which is apropos since we were at Le Bain. Joe Clausell got on the decks and dropped some heat. It got too hot in there so me and my boy Small Change hopped in his ride and hit up BBar for Beige's last night. Was ultra-packed and paid our respects and dipped to see DJ Shorty at Rose Bar to pay some more respect and called it an early night.
