Saturday in the Parks...

So 'dance' music exists, why I don't know but I joined some friends Saturday afternoon in Tompkins Square Park where the international Dance Parade ended up. Had to split early but loved this visual. Passed by Sneakercon at this church and saw these two texting about the new Jordan's they just copped. Again not sure why this exists. Not gonna say the same about soccer though I have before but the Adicup event made me jealous that I my spot didn't have a team. Esquina won this match but didn't advance. And here are the two real 'players' that day. As for the DJ, somewhat typical hip-hop nice trophy!
Not too long into my career as a bike messenger in '87 I picked up a large package near Bloomingdales and decided to ride one-handed, this the day after I put new brake pads on. Within one block a cabbie cut me off, I knew right then that I shoulda held package with my left but as quick as a blink I was hurtling over the handlebars face first onto Lexington ave. I completed the delivery and headed to St. Vincent's. I wasn't really hurt but was banged up and bleeding. After quite a wait they cleaned some of Lexington ave outta my skin. Never having been to the hospital before I was a bit shocked at the bill. Even more so when they asked for an address to send it to when I said I had no money on me, cuz my boys told me never to bring your wallet to the emergency room. My only other dealings were around '97 to pay my boy Greg (R.I.P.) a final visit before they pulled the plug and 9/11 where they anxiously awaited survivors that never came was a sad site for sure.

These are the Breaks...

If I need to 'splain the meaning behind these then you got a lot to learn. Eventually these Classics and the ones that sampled them will be posted here.

The Golden Years Tees

These are inspired from great years spent carousing NYC as a student/bike messenger/and fledgling nightlife junkie as well as some of the illest MC's of all time. And a side note, the 89 will be changed to "Genuine for 89" thanks to Big Daddy Kane!

Sunday Downtown NYC

My Bro is in town so day started off in Chinatown with a quick massage and Dim Sum then to Shepard Fairey show and this one really stood out for me think its the only one with no red in it and of course I'm in love with the ocean. Then stuck in Apple store fixing his iphone I chilled with my nephew upstairs while Common and Queen Latifah spoke of their new movie. Put nephew on my shoulders and ran into this mess at the Adidas store before taking him to the park on Thompson St. Finally ended day with more Fam at Cafe Colonial. Go support, they won't be there much longer. Ah NY the perfect mate for a love/hate relationship...

BDAY LOVE

Another BDAY party at 5ninth what can I say. You can see some real nightlife vets in these pics (by the way thanks Michelle for taking these and spinning a set!) This was the kick-off for our sunday DJ sessions...don't sleep!
