Parliament "Do That Stuff"

Ughhh been searching in the wrong spot for this for years don't know how I over-looked it. Had thought it was another break(which I will post later) also sampled by Royksopp. For a while I assumed they kinda lamely reused same sample. Jokes on me Jack!

Puma 'Esperto'

So are these kicks? What is the ruling on that? Hmmm. Puma sent me a discount email and like the addict I am, I bought these. Fact is I'm djing my first ever wedding, in India of all places, and thought these may come in handy on the streets of Mumbai. Lame excuse to pay the hefty price and they don't come in half-sizes so had to go a little small.  Pics to come from the sub-continent...

Roger Troutman "You Should Be Mine"

So a friend posted epmd's 'crossover' on facebook which honestly i was never a big fan of the song but i put it on ipod at work and my co-worker asked what the vocal sample was and i realized i didn't know for sure but thought it was zapp. a little research led me to this...

War "Good, Good Feelin'"

"Knock on wood, pat your booty, stomp your feet, clap your hands that's a good, good feelin'" nuff said. thanks to my man Max for hipping me to this joint after he copped this 12" at thrift store in Williamsburg. "Galaxy" is on the other side which is a funk classic. This is more straight up disco. Don't know if it's been sampled but has funky bassline, snares and horns.

Puma 'El Rey'

Missed out on the first black/red canvas joints when this style was first introduced. Then missed out on similar euro colorway on ebay. Ordered blk/green/yellow leather ones which tore up the back of my ankle (got rid of those). Ordered these for no good reason. I can admit I have a problem now.

Adidas 'Zeitfrei'

Adidas Zeitfrei: Latest acquisition, described as some kind of casual biking sneaker. Jury is still out on these but took a chance and ordered online. A bit late in the season because I retire my bike when the temp dips below 50. Come next summer I'll be rocking these on my trips to Fort Tilden.

All the People Ft. Robert Moore 'Cramp Your Style'

'Cramp Your Style' by All the People ft. Robert Moore. Often sampled track but all time classic is 'I'm Still Number One' by BDP slowed down with KRS dropping knowledge. First heard 'I'm still Number One' while I was taping the Red Alert show back in '88. My brother ended up 'borrowing' that cassette and taking it with him to New Mexico and when I caught up with him there a year later he had taped over it with some rock garbage (to me at that time anyway) had to shed a tear for that lost document of freshness. Probably heard 'Cramp Your Style' at a Soul Kitchen party but who can say exactly when and where during those days filled with 40's and blunts. That's where I got the widest exposure to funk/soul/disco/breaks thanks to Frankie Inglese. Still don't own that 45 in my now dwindling  vinyl collection due mostly to Serato and my ex moving out, forcing me to rent second bedroom that housed my sneakers and records so nicely. Now I sleep among them alone (mostly). Ah memories...
